The new 2019 vintage of Le Corti Chianti Classico DOCG

The new 2019 vintage of Le Corti Chianti Classico DOCG

Perfect grapes and new vinification: the secrets of Le Corti 2019 Chianti Classico

Le Corti Chianti Classico Vintage is an organic and vegan wine made from Sangiovese grapes (95%) with a small addition of Colorino (5%). This red wine represents the principal production in Villa Le Corti, the winery of Principe Corsini from which this wine takes its name. The vineyards are in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the northern area of Chianti Classico.

Two elements distinguish the 2019 vintage of Le Corti from the previous. The first one: the perfect ripeness of the grapes, due to the exceptional climate of that year. The second one is the newness introduced by the company for the vinification.

In 2019 an exceptional ripening of the grapes

The new vintage of Le Corti is born from a careful selection of the best Sangiovese grapes, matured perfectly thanks to the exceptional climate of 2019. The harsh and humid weather of the first six months of the year, followed by a hot but regular summer, allowed the perfect phenolic ripening of the grapes.

Expectations for the wines of this harvest are high because they recall the weather conditions of the great vintages of the 80s. In particular, to distinguish this organic and vegan wine, there are fruity and floral hints. These elements are obtained thanks to an innovation introduced at the level of winemaking.

The vinification highlights the aromas of Sangiovese

2019 is the first vintage of Le Corti in which one of the winemaking processes used for Fico Wine wines has been applied. That’s how it works. After careful selection, the grapes are transported whole inside the fermentation tanks without pressing.

In this way, the fermentation process is slower and produces less heat. At the same time, the procedure allows the developement of aromatic and floral compounds that highlight the characteristics of Chianti Classico Sangiovese.
The yeasts used are indigenous and reproduced exclusively every year.
Finally, the aging of 12 months takes place in cement tanks, followed by at least three months in bottles.

The 2018 vintage of Le Corti among prizes and awards

2017 was a difficult year. The frost of April and the severe drought in the summer led the company Principe Corsini to decide not to bottle any wine at Villa le Corti. On the contrary, the 2018 harvest was excellent both from a quantitative and a qualitative point of view.

To confirm the quality achieved by the 2018 vintage of Le Corti Chianti Classico DOCG there are also the awards received, including 92 points from Falstaff and James Suckling. And maybe the vintage of Le Corti 2019 Chianti Classico will be able to receive the same award.
