Palazzo Corsini: study day in Rome

"Stories of Palazzo Corsini. Protagonists and events in the 19th century"

On April 21st 2015 from 10.00 am the National Gallery of Ancient Art of Palazzo Corsini in Rome, hosts “Stories of Palazzo Corsini. Protagonists and events in the 19th century”.

A study day organized by Giorgio Leone, director of the gallery, with the collaboration of Silvia Pedone and Alessandro Cosma. The project stems from the close collaboration between the National Gallery of Ancient Art and the Corsiniana Library and the Lincei, which still share the spaces of the Palazzo alla Lungara, once known as Principi Corsini.

The initiative aims to investigate the main events that involved the building during the 19th century, from the difficult moments linked to the French domination, to the enhancement and safeguarding of the collections promoted by the Corsini.

From the sale of the Palazzo to the State, to the entrance of the Accademia dei Lincei and to the creation of the National Gallery. For the first time the events of the numerous characters who lived in the building will also be analyzed: the prestigious guests, the famous tenants, but also the lesser-known and more humble figures who helped to keep Palazzo Corsini at the Roman scene at the time.
