Zac is 100% Sangiovese from the Gugliaie vineyard (2.5 ha) and dedicated to Anna Corsini, the sister of Prince Tommaso. With the first vintage produced in 2008 (1,800 bottles), it represents the new challenges of the winery. It is a Sangiovese with a strong Chianti character, decisive and elegant at the same time, just like “Zac,” as Anna Corsini is affectionately called by her nieces and nephews and their children.
Tasting and pairing notes:
In a late vintage like 2013, the quality of the vineyard, the patience in the selection of the bunches during the harvest and the care for every detail in the vinification, made the difference. Zac shows even more refined and elegant traits than usual. A spicy touch gives the wine intensity and youthfulness, in a complex aromatic profile, with notes of red plum, sour cherries and lightly toasted wood. On the palate the fine and smooth texture of the tannins benefit of the lively acidity of the fruit, with a finish of chalky, sapid and mentholated notes, and a persistence of liquorice root and black tea. Pairing: lamb meatballs flavored with laurel
